In 1993, SBA was chosen among the second group of schools in China and the first one in South China to run pilot MBA programs. Later in 2000, it got the license issued by the Academic Degrees Office, the State Council.

SBA's MBA program aims to develop four types of CEO's at medium-level: diligent, intelligent, innovative and international. Both full-time (2 years) and part-time (3 years) options in International MBA, MBA in Banking and Finance, and Marketing MBA are available.

During their stay, candidates can not only learn facts-based theories in classroom, but also have plenty of extra-curricular activities such as SBA-SCUT management forum, enterprise investigation, entrepreneurship contest, etc.. SBA has long been called “a cradle of entrepreneurs” and now enjoys the fame, “a shrine of business elite”. Many alumni in the business world think that the extra-curricular activities in SBA's MBA programs are very unique, like a bridge linking the school and enterprises outside.
